Bates Masi + Architects
Paul Masi received a Bachelor of Architecture from Catholic University and a Masters of Architecture from the Graduate School of Design at Harvard University. He worked at Richard Meier & Partners before joining Harry Bates to form Bates Masi + Architects in 1998. Together the firm has been honored with 220 design awards since 2003 including three Cooper-Hewitt Design Award Nominations. Residential Architect Magazine selected Bates Masi as one of their 50 Architects We Loveand Architectural Record has awarded 3 Record Houses. In 2013, Bates Masi was inducted into the Interior Design Hall of Fame and in 2017, Paul Masi was inducted into the Wm. S. Marvin Hall of Fame. He has lectured at universities throughout the country and has served as a juror for national, international, and AIA design award competitions. Bates Masi has been featured in national and international publications including The New York Times, New York Magazine, Architectural Digest, Architectural Record, Interior Design, Metropolitan Home, Dwell, Elle Décor, and Remodeling. The firm’s first monograph Bespoke Home, with introduction by Paul Goldberger, is available in bookstores now. The firm’s highly anticipated second monograph will be available in 2023.
