With nearly 25 years of experience in the architecture profession, Carlos has worked on several award-winning projects across a variety of scales and typologies, including commercial adaptive reuse, historic preservation, public institutional, academic housing, library, and performing arts projects.
Carlos has always been interested in the social connections architecture strengthens within communities and how architecture can reinforce those community values and ideas while elevating everyday user experiences, from the larger design framework down to the finest details. He has worked at architecture firms that practice both locally and nationally and has enjoyed the breadth of experience that range has provided throughout his career.
Carlos has developed a strength in elevating architectural outcomes through the role technical discipline plays in the design process—both in supporting and executing a design vision and in exploring development opportunities at the detail scale. With half of his career spent in Construction Administration, he has fostered a spirit of collaboration and promotes leadership as essential to preserving design integrity during the critical phase of construction.
He is currently RDC’s Director of Technical Management, where he oversees firm-wide technical initiatives and quality management while enjoying opportunities to mentor staff. As a member of the AIA Long Beach/South Bay Chapter, Carlos is excited to advance advocacy for the profession, strengthen pathways into architecture, and support engagement opportunities for the next generation of architects.
Throughout the evolution of his architectural career, Carlos has also developed professional expertise in the craft of architectural photography and cinematography.
