About the Rancho: The historic site of Rancho Los Alamitos features a preserved ranch house, gardens, and barns that showcase the region’s deep Native American, Spanish, and ranching heritage. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, it offers visitors a rich exploration of Southern California’s layered history through tours, exhibits, and educational programs. The visitor center’s major remodel, completed in 2012, earned a Design Award for Historic Preservation from AIA Long Beach/South Bay in 2013 and a Conservancy Preservation Award from the Los Angeles Conservancy in 2014.
