The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) creates multiple triggers for lawsuits against Architects and owners. Knowing the triggers and scope of such lawsuits may aid Architects in avoiding such suits and advising their clients to do the same. Attendees will review a broad range of ADA related suits and discuss what to do if you or a client get involved or sued.

Mr. Cohen has experience defending architects sued for ADA issues which range from cases where the ADA issues are minor defects in a long list of other construction defects, to litigation based entirely upon the existence of ADA barriers in new construction. Mr. Cohen also has experience representing property owners sued in ADA accessibility actions by high volume litigants asserting rights under Cal. Civil Code § 51, and 42 USC §12100 et seq. to equal treatment in public accommodations.
