Join AIA Long Beach/South Bay for a special screening of the award-winning documentary Schindler Space Architect, followed by a live conversation with director Valentina Ganeva, moderated by Casey Roccanova, AIA, Associate Principal at Studio One Eleven and AIA Long Beach/South Bay Board Director.
Through archival materials, personal writings, interviews, photographs, drawings, and contemporary commentary, the film traces the life and work of architect R.M. Schindler, one of the most influential pioneers of Modern Architecture. Participants will explore Schindler’s design philosophy, his innovative approach to spatial relationships, and his lasting impact on residential architecture and the development of Southern California’s indoor-outdoor lifestyle. The post-screening discussion will provide additional insight into the filmmaking process, historical research, and the continued relevance of Schindler’s work for architects and designers today.
Supported, in part, by the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors through the Department of Arts and Culture, the Arts Council of Long Beach, the City of Long Beach, Port of Long Beach and California Arts Council, a state agency.
