Please join us as Zen Hoda, PE, SE, Associate Principal at Englekirk Structural Engineers takes you through the evolution of our response to the ever-increasing necessity to provide affordable housing options. Englekirk recognized the need for cost-efficient solutions through alternate approaches by collaborating with modular fabricators to improve on the quality and schedule of construction – resulting in the design of lateral systems compliant to the California Building Code and particularly high seismic zones. Modular building technology for hospitality, student, residential and affordable housing can effectively reduce construction time and is considered safer, quieter, and cleaner than traditional methods of construction. Designers and Architects get flexibility in design utilizing steel modular systems that ultimately result in a reduction of defects and allow future owners low-cost maintenance. Modules are completed inside and out in the factory arriving on site fully outfitted allowing for a high level of quality and repetition while reducing on-site labor.
