2022 Codes: Net Zero Energy, Climate Change, Drought, and Lack of Water Meet the 2022 Code Changes (Session 2 of 2)

December 13, 2022 @ 4:30 pm 6:30 pm

Free Free to attend. Limited space. For AIA Architect members only.

Part 1: December 6

Part 2: December 13

Must attend both sessions to receive credit. No exceptions.

Learning Units: 4 AIA LU/HSW

These four hours will count toward your 2023 ZNCD California License Renewal Requirement.

Description:

The new 2022 codes are now colliding with the State’s Mandates of net zero policy, drought, high heat, and slowly departing from fossil fuels. This course is the culmination of all the above, and the impact on building design. With the new state energy modeling, the architect must reconsider new design concepts in the direction of home, office, and retail spaces. Once the architect has completed the design, they may be shocked by other design restrictions, and then try to mold into the new codes. Remember, the Mighty Mississippi River is dry.

Learning Objectives:

  • Attendees will review all major droughts, climate change, and California net zero news and technical issues.
  • Attendees will learn to correlate technical concerns in architectural designs and specifications, in order to work within the new codes.
  • Attendees will learn about major significant code changes in 2022 that apply to ZNCD and the new CA requirements.
  • Attendees will examine examples of changes and details in actual designs; how to design in drought conditions and the elimination of fossil fuels.
