DESCRIPTION:Coastal CRAN (Custom Residential Architects Network) is a knowledge community of the AIA Long Beach / South Bay \n\n\n\n\nBuy Tickets on Eventbrite\n\nREGISTER\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n1.5 LU  \n\n\n\nDescription: \n\n\n\nAn in-person conversation with Chris Lombardi of Lombardi Construction and Dave Baldwin of Baldwin Construction who will share critical insights in the custom residential construction industry\, their experiences with local cities\, and how architects and general contractors can collaborate to help each other to streamline the building process to get projects done in a timely fashion without cutting corners. \n\n\n\nLearning Objectives: \n\n\n\n\nAttendees will learn how our guest speakers got started in the construction industry and when\, why\, and how they made the leap to forge their own paths.\n\n\n\nAttendees will learn about our guest speakers’ different modes of operation and how their unique approach is tailored to the construction process.\n\n\n\nAttendees will learn about the potential for and timing of pre-construction services.\n\n\n\nAttendees will learn about BID packages and what contractors find the most helpful.\n\n\n\nAttendees will be presented with valuable advice on where the construction industry is heading\, including 3-D technology\, artificial intelligence\, sub-contracting\, material pricing\, and labor.\n\n\n\n\nModerated by: Bryan Winters\, AIA\, Christopher Kempel\, AIA\, and Asia Zdziarska\, AIA \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nChris Lombardi\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nChris has homebuilding in his blood. His father worked in the industry for over 50 years\, and his great grandfather was a master carpenter and mason before emigrating to this country from Italy in the early 1900’s. \n\n\n\nAfter graduating from UCLA with honors in 1995\, Chris began his building career in Northern California with one of the largest homebuilders in the state. He was tutored by a superintendent who supervised the construction of over 10\,000 homes.  He learned all aspects of construction management\, scheduling\, and most importantly how to maintain quality throughout the process from foundation to finish.   \n\n\n\nIn 1999\, Chris moved to Hermosa Beach and founded Lombardi Construction. He combined his extensive large-scale project management skills with the meticulous attention to detail required to build fine custom homes.  Since its inception\, Lombardi Construction has crafted over 60 homes in the Beach Cities. \n\n\n\nLearn more about Lombardi Construction \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nDave Baldwin\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nDave received his AA in Construction Technology from El Camino College in 1981\, and in 1986 received an accreditation from UCLA in Construction and Business Management. \n\n\n\nIn 1987\, Dave Baldwin founded Baldwin Construction and has been building Custom Homes\, multifamily projects\, and commercial ventures from Newport Beach to Bel Air\, with a primary focus in the South Bay. Since its inception\, Baldwin Construction has been at the forefront of building quality homes and structures while partnering with some of the most respected architects and designers in Los Angeles.
