Industry professionals will lead discussions on relevant trends and challenges\, providing actionable strategies. You can join the entire series or choose specific sessions\, making it a flexible and valuable opportunity for firm leaders seeking to innovate and grow their firms. \n\n\n\nRegistration fees \n\n\n\n\nAIA member (all states): $175 entire series | $45 per session\n\n\n\nNon-member: $230 entire series | $70 per session\n\n\n\n\n\nREGISTER\n\n\n\n\nSchedule \n\n\n\nTuesday\, April 2 | 11:30am – 1:00pm ET \n\n\n\nPart 1: Preparing for Successful Ownership Transition and Expansion | 1.5 LU \n\n\n\nRena M. Klein\, FAIA\, Senior Partner\, CVG \n\n\n\nHow do firms succeed in transitioning ownership and leadership? When should firm leaders begin thinking about ownership transition\, and what options are available to firm founders approaching retirement? How can successors truly leverage the knowledge and connections of the founder? \n\n\n\nPlanning for leadership transition brings up many questions and few answers. In this two-part series\, we’ll explore how existing and future firm leaders carry equal responsibility for a successful ownership transition. \n\n\n\nPart 1 of this series will focus on demystifying ownership transition and expansion\, specifically how the mechanics of ownership transition work\, including valuation\, financial exchange\, business operations\, and governance of the firm. Different options will be explained\, such as whether to pursue an internal or external transition\, a merger or firm sale\, or simply closing the business. We’ll present case studies of different transition “road maps” that align emerging leaders’ expectations and changing roles with those of current owners. \n\n\n\nAt the end of this session\, you will be able to: \n\n\n\n\nDevelop clear goals and outcomes to begin planning for ownership transition or expansion.\n\n\n\nExamine options for ownership transition pathways depending on the timeframe to retirement and openness to sharing leadership.\n\n\n\nImplement multiple strategies to identify one or more successors for your business.\n\n\n\nExplore case studies that show different approaches to ownership transition and/or expansion.\n\n\n\n\n\nREGISTER\n\n\n\n\n\nTuesday\, April 9 | 11:30am – 1:00pm ET \n\n\n\nPart 2: Preparing for Successful Ownership Transition and Expansion | 1.5 LU \n\n\n\nRena M. Klein\, FAIA\, Senior Partner\, CVG \n\n\n\nSun Joo Kim\, Senior Management Consultant\, CVG \n\n\n\n\nPart 2 of this series bridges the generation gap between retiring firm owners and emerging leaders. Often\, retiring partners focus exclusively on their retirement goals without factoring in the mentorship (and time) required to transfer knowledge to the next generation. However\, if a firm leader intends to transfer ownership to the next generation\, emerging leaders need mentorship\, tools\, and skills to succeed. \n\n\n\nThis session will outline structured stages of professional development in the context of a “career ladder” for emerging leaders as a key component to effective ownership transition. We’ll explore how focused leadership training should incorporate management\, communication\, and decision-making skills with an emphasis on managing self\, managing others\, and managing the business. \n\n\n\nAt the end of this session\, you will be able to: \n\n\n\n\nClarify structured stages of professional development to prepare rising leaders for future ownership.\n\n\n\nOutline changing roles and responsibilities for both exiting owners and emerging leaders.\n\n\n\nDiscuss how successors can leverage the knowledge and connections of the founder.\n\n\n\nRecognize opportunities to develop the softer skills of firm leadership\, such as management\, communication\, and decision-making skills.\n\n\n\n\n\nREGISTER\n\n\n\n\n\nTuesday\, April 16 | 11:30am – 1:00pm ET \n\n\n\nFrom Unnoticed to Unforgettable: Mastering News-Driven Strategies for Your Firm’s Visibility | 1.5 LU \n\n\n\nKelly Donahue\, Communications Director & Founder\, Trifecta CollaborativeKatie Alessi\, Marketing Director & Founder\, Trifecta Collaborative \n\n\n\n\nAre your exceptional designs and project solutions going unnoticed?
