Is this due to a lack of knowledge\, or incomplete drawings and specifications\, or sloppy construction\, or is it that the topic has become so complex that it is difficult to synthesize all of the relevant information? And many of the items are indeed extremely technical yet the solutions need to be incorporated at the early non-technical design stages. This presentation will look at many common items in non-compliance often found in new construction and alterations. Learn thru a visual synthesis of photos with pertinent regulation call-outs of numerous existing installations. We will discuss what went wrong\, was missing\, or misunderstood\, in order to recognize Access issues to be on the look-out for and how to better incorporate pertinent information into construction documents and specifications. \n\n\n\nSUMMARY \n\n\n\nBe on the look out for many common items in non-compliance often found in new construction and alterations and become aware of items needing special attention from design thru construction – a visual synthesis of photos with pertinent regulation call-outs for numerous installations. \n\n\n\nLEARNING OBJECTIVES \n\n\n\n\nIdentify typical non-complying items before they get built.\n\n\n\nRecognize items to be addressed early for compliant Access later.\n\n\n\nDistinguish those elements requiring more attention during design and construction for compliant installation.\n\n\n\nDiscuss what is required for successful Access implementation.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nIMPORTANT INFORMATION: \n\n\n\nThe Zoom log-in link will be sent one day in advance of the program. \n\n\n\nYour Zoom screen name must match the name used to register. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nREGISTER FOR THE SECOND SESSION\, Accessible Environments As We Age \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPresented by

Industry professionals will lead discussions on relevant trends and challenges\, providing actionable strategies. You can join the entire series or choose specific sessions\, making it a flexible and valuable opportunity for firm leaders seeking to innovate and grow their firms. \n\n\n\nRegistration fees \n\n\n\n\nAIA member (all states): $175 entire series | $45 per session\n\n\n\nNon-member: $230 entire series | $70 per session\n\n\n\n\n\nREGISTER\n\n\n\n\nSchedule \n\n\n\nTuesday\, April 2 | 11:30am – 1:00pm ET \n\n\n\nPart 1: Preparing for Successful Ownership Transition and Expansion | 1.5 LU \n\n\n\nRena M. Klein\, FAIA\, Senior Partner\, CVG \n\n\n\nHow do firms succeed in transitioning ownership and leadership? When should firm leaders begin thinking about ownership transition\, and what options are available to firm founders approaching retirement? How can successors truly leverage the knowledge and connections of the founder? \n\n\n\nPlanning for leadership transition brings up many questions and few answers. In this two-part series\, we’ll explore how existing and future firm leaders carry equal responsibility for a successful ownership transition. \n\n\n\nPart 1 of this series will focus on demystifying ownership transition and expansion\, specifically how the mechanics of ownership transition work\, including valuation\, financial exchange\, business operations\, and governance of the firm. Different options will be explained\, such as whether to pursue an internal or external transition\, a merger or firm sale\, or simply closing the business. We’ll present case studies of different transition “road maps” that align emerging leaders’ expectations and changing roles with those of current owners. \n\n\n\nAt the end of this session\, you will be able to: \n\n\n\n\nDevelop clear goals and outcomes to begin planning for ownership transition or expansion.\n\n\n\nExamine options for ownership transition pathways depending on the timeframe to retirement and openness to sharing leadership.\n\n\n\nImplement multiple strategies to identify one or more successors for your business.\n\n\n\nExplore case studies that show different approaches to ownership transition and/or expansion.\n\n\n\n\n\nREGISTER\n\n\n\n\n\nTuesday\, April 9 | 11:30am – 1:00pm ET \n\n\n\nPart 2: Preparing for Successful Ownership Transition and Expansion | 1.5 LU \n\n\n\nRena M. Klein\, FAIA\, Senior Partner\, CVG \n\n\n\nSun Joo Kim\, Senior Management Consultant\, CVG \n\n\n\n\nPart 2 of this series bridges the generation gap between retiring firm owners and emerging leaders. Often\, retiring partners focus exclusively on their retirement goals without factoring in the mentorship (and time) required to transfer knowledge to the next generation. However\, if a firm leader intends to transfer ownership to the next generation\, emerging leaders need mentorship\, tools\, and skills to succeed. \n\n\n\nThis session will outline structured stages of professional development in the context of a “career ladder” for emerging leaders as a key component to effective ownership transition. We’ll explore how focused leadership training should incorporate management\, communication\, and decision-making skills with an emphasis on managing self\, managing others\, and managing the business. \n\n\n\nAt the end of this session\, you will be able to: \n\n\n\n\nClarify structured stages of professional development to prepare rising leaders for future ownership.\n\n\n\nOutline changing roles and responsibilities for both exiting owners and emerging leaders.\n\n\n\nDiscuss how successors can leverage the knowledge and connections of the founder.\n\n\n\nRecognize opportunities to develop the softer skills of firm leadership\, such as management\, communication\, and decision-making skills.\n\n\n\n\n\nREGISTER\n\n\n\n\n\nTuesday\, April 16 | 11:30am – 1:00pm ET \n\n\n\nFrom Unnoticed to Unforgettable: Mastering News-Driven Strategies for Your Firm’s Visibility | 1.5 LU \n\n\n\nKelly Donahue\, Communications Director & Founder\, Trifecta CollaborativeKatie Alessi\, Marketing Director & Founder\, Trifecta Collaborative \n\n\n\n\nAre your exceptional designs and project solutions going unnoticed? SUMMARY:Weekday Online Webinar: As-Built Best Practices - Part 2
DESCRIPTION:Buy Tickets on Eventbrite\n\nREGISTER\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n1.0 AIA LU \n\n\n\nAttendees will have a chance to win a Paris Skyline Architecture Series Lego set! \n\n\n\nDescription: \n\n\n\nAs-Built Surveying Best Practices Part 2 is a comprehensive course that was developed in response to architects’ direct need to obtain as-built plans prior to beginning their design process. The class is intended to educate the attendee about both parts of the as-built survey process – gathering the field measurements of the structure\, as well as using the data collected to draft or model the final plans needed by the architect. The first part of the course focuses laser scanning\, which is quickly being adopted as the main form of field measuring because of its efficiency and accuracy. The second half of the course explains the second step in creating As-Built plans\, which is to document the existing conditions using the Point Cloud in AutoCAD 2D drafting software and/or various 3D Building Information Modeling software. When attendees complete the course\, they will understand the full process for creating As-Built plans using laser scanning as the main method for gathering field measurements. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nLearning Objectives: \n\n\n\n\nRecognize when and how to use terrestrial laser scanners to gather field measurements.\n\n\n\nKnow when and how to employ mobile scanners to take field measurements.\n\n\n\nUnderstand the role that Point Clouds play in displaying data in a usable form.\n\n\n\nBe familiar with techniques for drafting and modeling As-Built scope items in AutoCAD\, Revit\, and other BIM software.\n\n\n\n\nTHIS PROGRAM WILL BE PRESENTED ON ZOOM.
