She is an energy analyst performing a wide range of responsibilities in both residential and nonresidential construction pertaining to compliance standards and energy modeling within the United States\, while specializing in California Building Code. California local ordinances (or Reach codes) supporting electrification and electric preferred for multifamily\, hotel/motel and nonresidential buildings dictates much of the work Gabel Energy provides in Northern California in which Gabel Energy has been an active leader in heat pump mechanical equipment design choices as supported by the Energy Code and compliance software modeling.Gina has worked with Energy Code Ace as a subject matter expert developing and supporting trainings\, resources and tools on the Residential and Nonresidential Title 24 Building Energy Efficiency Standards for building department staff\, energy consultants\, engineers\, contractors and architects.Gina also works as a respected subject matter expert informing the statewide code development process since the 2013 Building Code cycle.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nDave Intner\, AIA\, CEM\, LEED APSenior Advisor | Building Decarbonization and Energy Codes & Standards at SCE Dave Intner is a Licensed Architect\, LEED AP\, and Certified Energy Manager with Southern California Edison’s Codes & Standards team.  A graduate of Cal Poly SLO\, Dave provides education and outreach supporting Building Decarbonization and Energy Code Compliance Improvement. He leads several initiatives focusing on zero net carbon design and energy codes\, including case study books showcasing nonresidential and multifamily Zero Net Carbon design projects. Other roles at SCE have included managing the field engineering group and providing direct design and incentive support to high-performing LEED and net-zero buildings in the Savings by Design Program.Prior to SCE\, Dave practiced architecture for 15 years on buildings of just about every type including custom residential\, affordable housing\, university buildings\, and cultural facilities. DESCRIPTION:1.5 LU|HSW \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nTOUR DETAILS\n\n\n\n“Homes are the cornerstone of a thriving and just society.” \n\n\n\nAIA Los Angeles & AIA Long Beach/South Bay are very pleased to introduce our communities to Century Villages at Cabrillo (CVC): an inspiring and beautifully planned community designed to provide quality affordable housing and onsite supportive services. \n\n\n\nLocated in Long Beach\, CA\, Century Villages at Cabrillo (CVC) sits on 27 acres and is home to over 2\,000 residents on any given night\, including veterans\, families\, and individuals with special needs. CVC offers both permanent and transitional housing\, complemented by a network of services and amenities with a range of collaborators. \n\n\n\nEstablished in 1997\, CVC transformed a former Naval housing base near the Port of Long Beach into a thriving community. By bringing together service providers\, many of whom operate directly onsite\, CVC leverages a collective-impact approach to break the cycle of homelessness for its residents. (Collective impact is a framework where organizations from different sectors work together towards a common goal.) See below for required materials.  \n\n\n\nBecome a registered Safety Assessment Evaluator! \n\n\n\nTraining Description: \n\n\n\nCal-OES SAP Evaluator Training for post-disaster building Safety Assessment Program (SAP) provides architects\, engineers\, and building inspectors with the knowledge to provide valuations of facilities and buildings in the aftermath of a disaster. Disasters create terrible consequences\, forcing people out of their homes into temporary shelters and closing down communities. With SAP trainers able to deploy into an affected area\, they can quickly evaluate damaged structures\, identifying those that are safe for occupancy\, while marking those that are unsafe or have restricted use. \n\n\n\nLearning Objectives: \n\n\n\n\nAttendees will learn to evaluate building safety in the aftermath of a disaster.\n\n\n\nAttendees will learn how to mentor others on health\, safety\, welfare evaluations in the aftermath of a disaster or emergency to keep people safe and prevent re-entry before inspection.\n\n\n\nAttendees will review protocol for working with and assisting local governments in the aftermath of an emergency.\n\n\n\nAttendees (licensed civil engineers\, architects\, or certified building inspectors) will be trained as credentialed persons to be SAP Evaluators to work in the field posting buildings\, limiting re-entry\, and reviewing code violations that would restrict returning to an unsafe structure.\n\n\n\n\nDate: July 18\, 2025 (Zoom Link will be sent to participants on January 17th)Virtual Training 9AM – 4PM (one hour lunch break)Learning Units: 6 AIA HSW UnitsCost: $50 for AIA Members\, $75 for Non-Members \n\n\n\nRequired Evaluator Field Manuals | ATC 45 | ATC 20 | \n\n\n\nParticipants are responsible for purchasing these texts from ATC prior to attending this course.
