SUMMARY:75 years of Haystack Mountain School of Crafts
DESCRIPTION:Celebrating 75 years of Haystack Mountain School of Crafts—craft\, community\, and iconic architecture. \n\n\n\nFor 75 years\, Haystack has brought together makers and thinkers from around the world through intensive workshops\, residencies\, and conferences in craft\, visual arts\, and design. The School operates as an ongoing experiment in education—without permanent faculty\, full-time students\, or degrees—fostering freedom\, exchange\, and interdisciplinary exploration.\n\nExecutive Director Perry Price will share the School’s origins\, mission\, programming\, and future vision.\n\nThe School’s iconic campus\, designed by American architect Edward Larrabee Barnes\, is widely recognized as a masterpiece of American modernism. In 1994\, the campus received the prestigious Twenty-five Year Award from the American Institute of Architects\, placing it among a distinguished group of culturally significant buildings nationwide.\n\nSet within a secluded natural landscape overlooking the Atlantic Ocean\, Haystack continues to convene an intergenerational global community of creatives who gather to share ideas\, materials\, and discoveries.\n\n\nOrganized and hosted by Studio One Eleven\n\n2 LU (Pending)

SUMMARY:COTE Presents: Charging Ahead - CALGreen EV Requirements for New Construction
DESCRIPTION:AIA Long Beach / South Bay & Southern California Edison\, a Collaborative Partnership \n\n\n\n\n\n\nBuy Tickets on Eventbrite\n\nREGISTER\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n1 LU/HSW \n\n\n\nZOOM LOG-IN WILL BE EMAILED TWO DAYS IN ADVANCE OF THE WEBINAR. \n\n\n\nDescription: \n\n\n\nAs California accelerates toward a zero-emissions transportation future\, the 2025 updates to CALGreen (Title 24\, Part 11) introduce significant new requirements for electric vehicle (EV) infrastructure across a wide range of building types. These changes directly impact how architects and design teams approach site planning\, electrical systems\, and parking design in both new construction and major renovations. \n\n\n\nThis course provides a clear\, practical overview of the latest CALGreen EV provisions\, including requirements for light-\, medium-\, and heavy-duty vehicle charging. Participants will gain an understanding of how these updates influence project scope\, design decisions\, and coordination with engineering teams and jurisdictions. \n\n\n\nThrough real-world applications and implementation strategies\, this training equips attendees with the knowledge needed to navigate evolving EV infrastructure mandates\, support client goals\, and ensure compliance with California’s advancing sustainability standards. \n\n\n\nLearning Objectives: \n\n\n\n\nIdentify the structure\, scope\, and applicability of CALGreen (Title 24\, Part 11) as it relates to EV infrastructure requirements for residential and nonresidential projects\, including both mandatory and voluntary measures.\n\n\n\nInterpret key updates in the 2025 CALGreen code cycle\, including requirements effective January 2026 related to EV-capable and EVSE-installed spaces\, updated connector standards (J3400)\, and revised multifamily classifications.\n\n\n\nApply CALGreen EV requirements to project design scenarios\, evaluating impacts on parking layout\, electrical load planning\, conduit sizing\, and overall project scope for new construction\, additions\, and alterations.\n\n\n\nEvaluate the role of Automatic Load Management Systems (ALMS) in meeting EV charging requirements while optimizing electrical capacity and minimizing costly service upgrades.\n\n\n\nNavigate CALGreen compliance pathways\, including documentation requirements\, coordination with Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJs)\, and interpretation of feasibility exceptions for EV infrastructure.\n\n\n\n\nPresenter: \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nGrant Alpert of West Monroe.
