It doesn’t have to be! Gain valuable insight into your projects\, collaborate with your team\, AND build buildings that lower energy use and operational carbon. See how to transform energy code compliance from a tedious task into a strategic advantage for your architectural practice. \n\n\n\nLearning objectives: \n\n\n\n\nDetermine Energy Code requirements based on project scope of work.   \n\n\n\nIdentify the various compliance pathways available and determine which option is most appropriate for the project.   \n\n\n\nVerify that design documents align with the chosen compliance pathway by utilizing the Certificate of Compliance as a comprehensive checklist.   \n\n\n\nEmploy the performance approach to offer guidance on measuring energy usage and operational carbon of the proposed building design. \n\n\n\n\nSpeaker: \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nGina Rodda is currently the Owner of Gabel Energy out of Castro Valley\, California\, and has been in the energy modeling field since 1991. Is this due to a lack of knowledge\, or incomplete drawings and specifications\, or sloppy construction\, or is it that the topic has become so complex that it is difficult to synthesize all of the relevant information? And many of the items are indeed extremely technical yet the solutions need to be incorporated at the early non-technical design stages. This presentation will look at many common items in non-compliance often found in new construction and alterations. Learn thru a visual synthesis of photos with pertinent regulation call-outs of numerous existing installations. We will discuss what went wrong\, was missing\, or misunderstood\, in order to recognize Access issues to be on the look-out for and how to better incorporate pertinent information into construction documents and specifications. \n\n\n\nSUMMARY \n\n\n\nBe on the look out for many common items in non-compliance often found in new construction and alterations and become aware of items needing special attention from design thru construction – a visual synthesis of photos with pertinent regulation call-outs for numerous installations. \n\n\n\nLEARNING OBJECTIVES \n\n\n\n\nIdentify typical non-complying items before they get built.\n\n\n\nRecognize items to be addressed early for compliant Access later.\n\n\n\nDistinguish those elements requiring more attention during design and construction for compliant installation.\n\n\n\nDiscuss what is required for successful Access implementation.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nIMPORTANT INFORMATION: \n\n\n\nThe Zoom log-in link will be sent one day in advance of the program. \n\n\n\nYour Zoom screen name must match the name used to register. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nREGISTER FOR THE SECOND SESSION\, Accessible Environments As We Age \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPresented by

Now that the baby boomer generation is aging\, we need to consider how this impacts our built environment – an overview of design considerations and lighting which can easily be addressed now to not only allow us to age in place later but also to have others visit us whether they have issues concerning accessibility or aging\, whether just slowing down\, or have a more vigorous disability. This seminar addresses more than just the minimum standards of technical accessible design\, but rather good design practices and implementation overall. We will discuss common areas of concern and issues of aging and our built environment thru photographs of both good and more challenging examples of typical elements. \n\n\n\nSUMMARY \n\n\n\nAn overview of design considerations which can easily be addressed now to not only allow us to age in place later but also have others visit us whether they have issues concerning accessibility or aging. \n\n\n\nLEARNING OBJECTIVES \n\n\n\n\nUnderstand how different types of disabilities and aging impact our navigation of the built environment.\n\n\n\nRecognize the impact of lighting and color and how it affects us and our health.\n\n\n\nLearn about different items that can easily be implemented now for aging in place later.\n\n\n\nDistinguish and identify those elements and hazards to avoid that can be more of a challenge as we age.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nIMPORTANT INFORMATION: \n\n\n\nThe Zoom log-in link will be sent one day in advance of the program. \n\n\n\nYour Zoom screen name must match the name used to register. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPresented by
