COTE Presents: 2025 Code Breaker — Nonresidential, Hotel/Motel and Multifamily Envelope and CALGreen Embodied Carbon

May 27 @ 12:00 pm 1:30 pm

AIA Long Beach / South Bay & Southern California Edison, a Collaborative Partnership

Free

1.5 LU/HSW (Pending) – This course qualifies toward California’s Zero Net Carbon Design (ZNCD) continuing education requirements.

ZOOM LOG-IN WILL BE EMAILED TWO DAYS IN ADVANCE OF THE WEBINAR.

Description:

The 2025 California Energy Code (Title 24, Part 6) introduces important updates to building envelope requirements for nonresidential, hotel/motel, and multifamily projects across all scopes of work, including new construction, additions, and alterations. This course provides a comprehensive overview of these changes, focusing on envelope components such as roofs, walls, floors, fenestration, and doors, and how they impact design and compliance.

In addition, the session explores the embodied carbon requirements introduced in Title 24, Part 11 (CALGreen), highlighting their role in advancing California’s climate goals and supporting Zero Net Carbon Design (ZNCD) strategies. Attendees will gain practical insight into how to integrate energy efficiency and carbon reduction measures into project design and documentation.

Learning Objectives:

  • Identify the applicable sections of the 2025 California Energy Code (Title 24, Part 6) for nonresidential, hotel/motel, and multifamily building types.
  • Explain updated building envelope requirements—including roofs, walls, floors, fenestration, and doors—and how they apply across different project scopes.
  • Differentiate between Energy Code requirements for new construction versus alterations and additions.
  • Describe the role of embodied carbon in achieving California’s climate goals and advancing Zero Net Carbon Design (ZNCD).
  • Apply strategies to measure and reduce embodied carbon in accordance with Title 24, Part 11 (CALGreen), supporting more informed and impactful design decisions.
