Sketching is a fun way for children to focus and see things previously unnoticed in the built environment, and to better understand the various aspects of architecture, such as functionality and artistry.
The value of sketching is necessary in the field of architecture. Architects know this. Drawing affects how the brain compartmentalizes and disseminates information. Sketching allows for one to focus and see things previously unnoticed, or to connect how the building sits within its environment. It creates a shift in thought and opens the mind to new ideas.
The AIA Long Beach / South Bay has been holding a Kids Draw Architecture event every fall since 2017!
