Sketching is a fun way for children to focus and see things previously unnoticed in the built environment, and to better understand the various aspects of architecture, such as functionality and artistry.
The value of sketching is necessary in the field of architecture. Architects know this. Drawing affects how the brain compartmentalizes and disseminates information. Sketching allows for one to focus and see things previously unnoticed, or to connect how the building sits within its environment. It creates a shift in thought and opens the mind to new ideas.
Due to the limitation of COVID-19, the 2020 Kids Draw one-day event is now all month-long. Children up to young adults should watch this “Learn to Sketch” video and email us your sketches to our Executive Director . We will be sure to share them through our website and social media platforms. Be sure to check out last year’s photo album.
