Sketching is a fun way for children to focus and see things previously unnoticed in the built environment, and to better understand the various aspects of architecture, such as functionality and artistry.
The value of sketching is necessary in the field of architecture. Architects know this. Drawing affects how the brain compartmentalizes and disseminates information. Sketching allows for one to focus and see things previously unnoticed, or to connect how the building sits within its environment. It creates a shift in thought and opens the mind to new ideas.
The 2021 Kids Draw event took place at the Rancho Los Cerritos and was a great success!
Due to the limitation of COVID-19, in 2020 the Kids Draw one-day event was all month-long. Children up to young adults were encouraged to watch this “Learn to Sketch” video . Be sure to check out last year’s photo album.
