Mission Statement:
The AIA Long Beach/South Bay Advocacy Committee supports issues affecting the design profession and the built environment within our local communities. We promote sound policy and positive change through the power of good design.
Pillars:
Community
Work with the community to advocate for good design on their behalf, inform community members of design issues affecting where they live and work, and demonstrate the socio-cultural, economic, and environmental value of architects and architecture.
Partnership
Partner with allied professional associations that align with our values and mission statement, to share knowledge and resources, amplify our message and mutually support our common goals.
Policy
Maintain an active dialogue with local government officials to promote issues relevant to our members, our profession, and the communities where we live and practice.
Our elected members of the Board of Directors who serve as our AIA California representatives serve on the Advocacy Committee, along with other interested chapter members. One or more committee members also serves on the Local Component Advocacy Network, an AIA California-hosted network of component volunteers that fosters information, training, and resource exchange; and the identification of local issues that require statewide advocacy action.
