Architecture & Dog Walker
Jurors comments:
Rebecca Sittler: Incredible light! I appreciate the small detail of the figure and the inverted triangle of light that mirrors the building above.
Paul Turang: Great composition and light. Really liked the juxtaposition of the angular glass and metal building behind the warm, old stone.
Carlos Hernandez, AIA: Great job! This image is seemingly simple but upon closer inspection one can see the photographer’s careful attention in expressing texture and creating depth with the contrast of different types of architecture. The light quality on the foreground creates interest but leads the eye to the “hero”. There is a nice balance of negative space in the image and the tones of the blue-sky balance nicely with the earth tones of the foreground architecture. the Dog Walker is used strategically to convey an idea of scale, and the trees also do that and add more visual interest. The photographer understood proportional compositional placement of elements to organize the image, which results in a very pleasing and compelling overall capture.
Interior Category Winner: Victoria Murillo
Biomuseo
Jurors comments:
Rebecca Sittler: I enjoy the mysterious planes of space, line quality, and use of color in this image!
Paul Turang: Love the colors! Nice lighting and contrast. Great image!
Carlos Hernandez, AIA: This is a very interesting image, it does not follow standard compositional rules, but in this case it’s warranted. The variety of colors and textures, and lines are all interesting and work well together. Nice job!
People’s Choice Winner: Victoria Murillo
Biomuseo (exterior)
Members of the public were provided the opportunity to vote for their favorite photo among the 57 submissions. We can see why the bold contrast between the ship and the colorful structure in the Biomuseo (exterior) photo caught the eye of the voters and received the most votes. Congratulations!
