Architectural Photography Competition

A Biennial Program that Celebrates the Built Environment Through the Art of Photography

2024 Winning Photographs

Exterior Category Winner: Miguel J Rodriguez

FISHBONE

FISHBONE by Miguel J Rodriguez

Juror’s Comments:

Nirav Solanki: My eyes draw right into all the details of this complexity. The reflection and perspective makes it even more intriguing.

Janna Ireland: Striking symmetry and lighting in this image; very technically and formally sound.

Paul Turang: I loved the symmetry and boldness of this image.  The reflection in the water is seamless and the high contrast black and white really amplifies the visual impact.

Interior Category Winner: Chun Liu

Juror’s Comments:

Nirav Solanki: I enjoyed the different textures in this well captured image. Good use of light entering into the space.

Janna Ireland: I really appreciate the abstract qualities of this image.

Paul Turang: Great framing. I like how the photographer was able to integrate all the elements into a compelling composition. The leading lines, the angle, and quality of light all work together nicely, leading your eye through the scene and adding depth.

Juror’s Comments:

Nirav Solanki: The image captured the building in a fabulous monotone light, creating a striking effect through the technique of double exposure.

Janna Ireland: A unique take on one of the most frequently photographed buildings in Los Angeles.

Paul Turang: Interesting interpretation of the Disney Concert Hall.  I liked the double exposure effect and tones.  Nice quality of light.
