Color Your City: Celebrating Architecture Week with Creativity and Community

Architecture is all around us—in the places we gather, the spaces we call home, and the communities we help shape every day. This Architecture Week, AIA Long Beach/South Bay is celebrating the power of design with a project that invites our youngest community members to explore the built environment in a fun and creative way.

We’re proud to introduce our Architecture Coloring Book, a collection of illustrated buildings from across our chapter’s region. From historic landmarks to modern architecture, each page offers an opportunity to learn, imagine, and connect with the places that define our region.

This initiative was made possible through a generous Architecture Week 2026 grant from the American Institute of Architects (AIA). With AIA’s support, we’re able to bring this project to life and share it with families, students, and future designers throughout our community.

Developed by our Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) Committee, the coloring book reflects a core belief: design belongs to everyone. By highlighting a range of building types, cultures, and stories, the project encourages young people from all backgrounds to see themselves in architecture and to recognize their role in shaping the future.

We invite you to download a copy, request a printed version, and share your artwork with us in our online gallery. Whether bold and colorful or thoughtfully detailed, each creation is a reminder that creativity starts early—and that the next generation is already imagining what’s possible.

Join us in celebrating Architecture Week and the many ways design connects us.
