3D Laser Scanning & Traditional Methods

1.0 AIA LU

All attendees have a chance to win a Paris Skyline with the Eiffel Tower from the LEGO Architecture Skyline Series

Weekday Online Webinar Course Description:

PPM

This class is a demonstration of how to procure a proper set of As-Built Plans when needed for any structure. It will briefly cover the reasons they are needed, technique in obtaining information onsite, and finally the drafting in CAD or modeling in Revit to suit your design needs.

Learning Objectives:

  • We’ll learn a few ways to begin a project by determining if As-Builts are needed. We’ll discuss the scope of work from an As-Built-only perspective and how that will help achieve different goals to give you a head-start on creating design elements, construction documents, and obtaining permits.
  • We will run through some “traditional” but also fundamental methods to obtain As-Built Plans for all levels of scope.
  • We will observe new methods for gathering data onsite such as Lidar Scanning and 3D Photogrammetry.
  • We will learn how to put down our collected data into both AutoCAD & Revit.

THIS PROGRAM WILL BE PRESENTED ON ZOOM. WEBINAR LOG-IN LINK WILL BE INCLUDED IN YOUR CONFIRMATION OF REGISTRATION EMAIL FROM EVENTBRITE. ATTENDANCE FOR THIS WEBINAR WILL BE TAKEN USING ON AN ONLINE FORM. THE LINK WILL BE PROVIDED IN THE CHAT.

Speakers:

Cameron Slatterbeck

Cameron Slatterbeck is the Regional Director for our Southern California team. He’s worked with PPM for 11+ years in many capacities. Over the years, he’s watched As-Built Surveying techniques change and evolve to the more efficient, laser scanning process and level of detail we have today. He began drafting his freshman year of high school and continued into college. Adding years of on-the-job training, he grew from drafting, to surveying, and into project management. Today, he leads a team of surveyors and drafters who use the latest in 3D laser scanning technology to capture onsite data and draft/model offsite for our SoCal architects, designers, and homeowners. If you’ve worked with PPM, Cameron has been a big part of your As-Built Survey process ensuring the best deliverables.

When Cameron’s not hard at work managing projects, you can find him at a country music concert, checking out a new brewery, or tackling his travel list to visit 50 states by the age of 50!

Greg Davies

Greg Davies began working with PPM in 2013. A theatre major in college, his experience with surveying and drafting began in the theatre program using Vectorworks to draft stage construction, lighting plots, furniture, and A/V set ups for event spaces. After college, he pivoted to drafting for real estate firms using Vectorworks, Visio, and AutoCAD. In 2013, Greg began working with PPM as a surveyor, drafter, and project manager. Today, Greg heads up the Special Operations team at PPM, responsible for large commercial projects across the US, UK, and EU as well as high-volume retail and restaurant rollout for the world’s biggest brands. When not focused on his team and their projects, he helps PPM stay up-to-date on Laser Scanning technology as PPM’s de-facto resident LiDAR guru.

In Greg’s down time, you might find him comparing local brews with Cameron or riding around on an e-scooter with a laser scanner in a backpack, just surveying a city block or two for the fun of it.
