Maria Setaro, Designer

Maria Setaro is a Sr. Job Captain at Studio One Eleven focusing primarily on
affordable housing and community-centered projects. Joining Studio One Eleven’s
team in 2019, Maria brings extensive experience in senior housing with an emphasis
on typologies including universal design, low-density residential, market rate, mixeduse,
and transit-oriented-development (TOD) residential.
Her most recent work as a Sr. Job Captain includes the affordable and modular
housing projects: Vanowen Apartments, Oatsie’s Place, and McDaniel House from
SD – CA phases. All three projects consist of a combination of off-site construction
via light-gauge steel modular units, and on-site building construction. Team leading
and coordination is a skill Maria has further developed while coordinating multiple
construction efforts simultaneously, keeping design-intent, sustainability needs,
project schedules, and project budgets on mind.
Maria is an open communicator, passionate, and understands the importance of
mentorship and team building in all aspects of the profession. This is reflected in
both her projects and the different committees and mentorship organizations she is
involved with outside of work.
Having being born in Venezuela, raised in Miami, FL, and studied Architecture in
DTLA, Maria understands the need for multi-generational, diverse, and inclusive
communities in Southern California. She embodies this in her outreach with
underrepresented communities that works to diversify and bring awareness to the
the AEC industry for students from Middle School to College ages.
Maria received her Bachelor of Architecture from SCI-Arc in 2013 and is currently
pursuing her architecture license in the state of California.
