Todd Smith, AIA
Syndicate Smith
After years of studying and playing piano, trumpet and drums, Todd pursued his dreams of being a musician by entering into the School of Architecture at the University of Washington, Seattle. After Graduating with a B.A. in architectural studies in 2002, he immediately went to work with Johnston Architects in Seattle for 8 Years learning from great mentors, Ray and Mary Johnston (Both FAIA). In 2010, 8 years later, as a principal in the firm, married, 1 child, and another on the way, at the bottom of the recession, Todd decided to leave the office pursuing an attempt towards moving back to North Central Washington. In 2012, Todd Moved back to his hometown, Leavenworth WA, where he and his office now focuses on single / multi family residential and small commercial projects across the state. Gathering a band of architectural strays wanting to focus on living in the Cascades, working in a Bavarian Themed Town, sometimes wearing lederhosen, Todd and his team of 13 architects, interior designers and administrative staff navigate hostile and hospitable landscapes across the state focusing on site driven design. The variety of Washington’s climates and geographies from the San Juan Islands, to the Columbia Plateau, from -20 to 120 degrees F throughout the year, give Todd and Syndicate Smith a unique perspective on how architecture responds to the punishment and praise the environment gifts us. As far as credentials….he and his office have a few acronyms and publications.
